Pride in the Park

It was a winter celebration full of tank tops, sandals and shorts when more than 10,000 people gathered for the second annual Winter Pride Tampa Bay’s “Pride in the Park.” Tampa Bay residents said their city needed the dose of pride. Area lawmakers have battled whether the Gay-Straight Alliance has a place in the city’s public schools, and past Tampa pride events have been discontinued. Many gays and lesbians have left Tampa for the nearby city of St. Petersburg, which they say is a much more welcoming community.

Whole Hog Homophobia

Given the rampant homophobia motoring through Touchstone/Disney’s latest comedy, “Wild Hogs,” it seems fitting that screenwriter Brad Copeland’s credits include writing for TV’s “Arrested Development.” Arrested development … not just a sitcom, but perhaps an explanation for Copeland’s sophomoric state of mind. Celebrating At Sea

On February 18th the Norwegian Jewel set sail out of Miami for a week of Caribbean bliss. However, this was no ordinary cruise. The Jewel was home for over 2,000 people embarking on the fourth R Family Vacation cruise. Co-Founders Gregg Kaminsky and Kelli O’Donnell hosted the experience that provided a safe and positive environment for gay and lesbian families and their extended straight families and friends.
